Etude House Soon Jung 10-Free Moist Emulsion Review

Updated: Oct 27, 2020

I typically associate Etude House with colorful packaging, fun scents, and cosmetics aimed at the young people in their teens or early twenties. I kept seeing their Soon Jung line recommended online as a great one for sensitive skin, and it made me really curious. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry-to-normal cheeks.

It just so happened that I only owned one type of emulsion/lotion at the time, so of course I picked up Etude House Soon Jung 10-Free Moist Emulsion. The “10-free” part appealed to my inner hippie, since it means that the product is free of ten toxic ingredients such as parabens. The emulsion is available on* eBay, Amazon and Cosmetic Love

Active ingredients:

  • Squalane - a highly effective emollient and natural antioxidant.

  • Panthenol - provitamin B5 used as an emollient and moisturizer.

  • Madecassoside - one of the principal bioactive components in the Centella asiatica plant. Helps speed up healing processes in the skin and works as an antioxidant.

  • Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract - green tea extract; naturally rich in antioxidants, green tea protects the skin from free radical damage.

The emulsion comes in two sizes - 72ml and 120ml. I have the smaller one. The bottle is clear plastic with a small opening. I would prefer a pump, but for some reason Korean skincare manufacturer often package emulsions in this way, making us shake the bottle to get the product out. It’s a small price to pay for good skin.

How to use:

  1. Apply an appropriate amount to the face and neck after toner and serum(s)

  2. Gently pat in to ensure absorption

  3. Follow with cream, if desired, and SPF (in the morning)

Can be used morning and night

My impressions:

This is such an amazing product. It seems that natural, fragrance free and 10-free items are often pricy, but not this one. The emulsion is thin but not runny and is easily absorbed. There’s no scent (a big plus for the sensitive types).

Soon Jung Emulsion is part of my routine most days, both morning and night, but especially if I have any troubles like a breakout. I use other products to actually heal the blemishes (an article coming soon), but this lotion provides good nourishment without making the pimples worse. It’s very mild and soothing. I highly recommend it to people with acne prone or simply sensitive skin and those like me who avoid parabens and other controversial ingredients.
