I’m 28 and have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry-to-normal cheeks. Freckles grow on me like it’s their job, and in the recent years I decided to try and control that a bit as I don’t want them merging into age spots. Light, even skin is considered desirable in Korean beauty circles, so there are lots of options for what they call “whitening” products. Whitening doesn’t mean it will make your skin tone lighter - it simply refers to making pigmentation spots and imperfection such as acne scars lighter so that the skin overall is more even.
The product has the following benefits:
Sebum control
Whitening (more even skin tone)
Anti-aging - wrinkle control and improvement
Moisturizing
Active ingredients:
Galactomyces (92%) - according to a legend, the ancient rice wine makers who handled galactomyces (fermented rice yeast) with their bare hands had skin that looked young and healthy. It was then discovered that galactomyces helps maintain the skin’s elasticity and healthy coloring, slowing down the aging process. Whether the legend is true or not, the benefits of galactomyces are real and undeniable.
Niacinamide (5%) - vitamin B3 that has been proven to reduce pore size, help minimize the appearance of wrinkles, and improve pigmentation. The manufacturer states that the typical niacinamide concentration in other brands’ products is 2%, while Purito’s is 5%.
Adenosine - a yeast derived anti-aging, soothing and restoring agent suitable for all skin types. Adenosine is capable of increasing the levels of collagen and elastin, and therefore making the skin appear smoother and younger. It is especially effective in the eye area (crow’s feet) and can also reduce swelling/puffiness.
The essence is manufactured in small batches to guarantee freshness. It’s recommended to store it in the fridge, although I do not. All of the ingredients are EWG (Environmental Working Group) certified as green/safe.
How to use:
Official instructions are to apply to a clean face right after washing.
I apply after toner.
Follow with the rest of your skincare.
Purito products are meant to work together, and the manufacturer offers these two routines:
I have tried and reviewed all of the products in these routines, except vitamin C serum. I did try it, but it does not agree with my skin.
My impressions:
I really enjoyed this essence. It’s light and great for layering, gets absorbed very easily. My face became smoother and more refreshed. There is no stickiness. If you plan to travel somewhere, you don’t even have to pack toner - the product does a good job by itself right after cleanser. My freckles are lighter than ever, even though they typically go really crazy once the sun comes out. The sebum control claim is true as well - my t-zone (especially the forehead) no longer has an oily sheen by lunch time. I’m pretty much out of this product now, but would repurchase, especially since it’s quite affordable.

This essence was sent to me as a gift by Purito and a Korean store Eopenmarket. All opinions are my own and honest, as usual.
