PK01 Blush Pink
OR01 Chardonnay Orange
Confession time - I’m pretty lazy. I’m not a morning person, I don’t get enough sleep, and putting makeup on other than mascara and some powder is a complete torture most weekdays (I enjoy the process if I’m not half asleep and have some time on the weekends). But who doesn’t want pretty lips?
Here are my requirements for decorative lip makeup:
- Has to be easy to use
- Long-ish lasting
- Low maintenance
I was hoping the Peripera airy velvet would do that for me, but it was a total fail (read more here). Since I’m also a sucker for cute packaging, this time I ordered two Chateau Labiotte Wine Lip tints (I already bought a trial size before and was pleased). Lip stain shaped like wine? Sign me up. Anything to make Mondays a little more bearable.
I’m actually very pleased with both of these colors and with the product in general.
What I like:
The colors are great - pink for the normal day-to-day and the orange for special occasions (although sometimes I wear it to work, too)
Super easy application - often, dark tints look streaky, but this one doesn’t at all. I can correct the orange all I want as it stays moist for some time, then sets
Minimal transfer to mugs and husbands (wiping with a napkin, however, will transfer some of the color off the lips). My kid's favorite thing lately is having me kiss her hand - she's very amused that the color doesn't transfer to her skin
No bleeding/smudging - the edges/outline of the lips stay crisp and precise all day, even as the color starts to wear off and fade
Decent lasting power - even the orange looks really good after food, water, and coffee. And at the end of the day my lips are still slightly tinted (after multiple meals)
The scent is light and somewhat sweet
No taste
The packaging :) It’s definitely a conversation starter
I think this has hit all of my requirements. The price isn’t bad at all, either. I bought mine on eBay, but they are also available on Amazon. eBay has a range of pricing on these, so if you want the exact listing I used, it's this one.
A note on dryness. I have dry lips, and if they are already dry, applying any tints (including these ones) will highlight the dryness. However, if I’ve been a responsible adult (exfoliating and moisturizing my lips), the tint doesn’t make them dry at all. Bottom line - the tint won’t dry but won’t moisturize your lips either. If you have the same issues as I do, you can wait until the color sets in, then apply lip balm on top. It works well and doesn’t seem to affect the longevity of the color. In the pictures, I’m not wearing any lip balm.
