A good cleanser can make all the difference in a skincare routine. It either irritates and chips away at a skin barrier, causing dryness and redness, or it effectively cleanses without damaging the skin and prepares it for the subsequent routine steps. Finding the right cleanser takes time and effort, and I hope my reviews help make the process easier and quicker.
I’ve been wanting to try more 107 products ever since their cream (review here) completely blew my mind. I’m currently using 107 Chaga Jelly Low pH Cleanser, available on Jolse. The cleanser has a gentle 4.0-5.0 pH and promises to cleanse the skin without stripping its natural oils or causing irritation. Like many other 107 products, it’s formulated with 7-year aged vinegar plus chaga (mushroom) extract and other botanicals. A full list of ingredients is provided at the end.

I use this cleanser as a second step in the evenings (after a cleansing oil). It can also be used by itself in the mornings, if you choose to cleanse the face in the AM. The product has a jelly texture with noticeable inclusions of green tea leaf powder for gentle exfoliation. The scent is earthy and herbal, reminiscent of mugwort products (especially I’m From mugwort mask).
My impressions
I love this cleanser. Just like with moisturizers, I wasn’t too excited about foaming cleansers when I first got into kbeauty, simply because the idea of a foaming face wash wasn’t a new one. Oil cleansers, serums, eye patches - those things were new and exciting. But now that I’m used to a full array of Korean skincare offerings, I’ve come to appreciate a good foaming cleanser.
The 107 Chaga Jelly Low pH Cleanser is a wonderful product that should work for most skin types. It’s so gentle and lovely but still effective in cleansing the skin. When I read the marketing claims about this product not stripping the skin of its oils, I was a little afraid that it would leave my skin feeling oily or greasy. Nope! I have combination skin with an oily t-zone, and this wash does a fantastic job getting it clean but not dry or tight.
The smell might not be everyone’s favorite, but it’s very mild and doesn’t last long. I personally like it and I think it comes from the natural ingredients in the formula, not added fragrance (but I can never be too sure, since linalool and limonene can be considered fragrance ingredients).
I’m a seasoned skincare user, but I still sometimes overdo it with exfoliation, tret, or pick my skin. And other times my skin just decides to throw me a curveball and break out or get red. The chaga cleanser is absolutely amazing during those times - it doesn’t make the issues worse, still removes dirt, and even helps calm down the redness.
Overall, this gets a huge seal of approval from me and my love affair with 107 continues. Stay tuned for more reviews in the near future.
