PURITO Pure Hyaluronic ACID 90 Serum Review

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

Another chapter in my Purito love story. You may have already read my reviews about their BB cream, toner, and eye cream. My experience with the Purito Hyaluronic Acid 90 Serum started with sample sachets included in my numerous Korean beauty purchases. I liked it right away, but was holding off on getting the full size because I was working through some other products first (there’s only so much one face needs, even in a ten step Korean skincare routine).

I have combination skin with an oily t-zone and dry to normal cheeks. Once it got colder and more dry outside, my skin needed more moisture than what I had and this serum came in handy.

It is available on eBay and Amazon

The serum comes in a nice bottle with a nifty pump that keeps hands out of the product (it's always nice not to accidentally contaminate a whole jar of something with dirty hands). It’s very economical - one pump or even half a pump is enough for my whole face and neck. It absorbs quickly and can feel a tad sticky, but that goes away once I apply the rest of my skincare steps (lotion, cream, and so on). The product doesn’t make me greasy, doesn’t affect makeup application, and makes my skin nicely hydrated all day. When it’s cold, dry, and the heat is on indoors, I use it morning and night. During the warmer seasons, it’s typically just at night. I did discover that if I dehydrate my face by focusing too much on “oil control”, it actually produces even more oil and I look greasy. Hyaluronic acid greatly helps with that by balancing moisture levels without feeling heavy.

A few words about the main ingredient - 90% hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) attracts and holds moisture better than any other natural or synthetic polymer. It’s not abrasive like exfoliant-type acids and is completely safe to use in the summer. It doesn’t increase skin’s photo sensitivity (sensitivity to light). In basic terms, hyaluronic acid attracts environmental moisture to the skin. Be sure to follow the serum with lotion and/or cream to lock in that effect.

Other benefits of hyaluronic acid:

  • Helps retain inter-cellular moisture

  • Hydrates and improves elasticity

  • Has an anti-inflammatory effect

  • Supports cellular regeneration

  • Benefits all skin types, even sensitive skin

  • Clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines

In addition to hyaluronic acid, the serum contains vitamin C (ascorbic acid), aloe leaf extract, lactobacillus, and chlorella ferment. It is “10 free”, meaning free of 10 common harmful cosmetic ingredients like parabens, ethanol, artificial colors and fragrances, triclosan and so on. The serum is KFDA (Korean Food & Drug Administration) approved as an anti-wrinkle and “whitening” product. In Korean skincare, “whitening” refers to evening the skin tone, not to lightening the color.

How to use:

  1. Cleanse the face and use a toner

  2. Apply a small amount of serum to face and neck with fingertips

  3. Let absorb completely, then follow with lotion, etc.

The product is clear, has no scent as far as I can tell, and has the consistency of a watery gel. It's quite pleasant to apply.

My skin has gotten so smooth since using this serum. Sometimes I can’t believe just how nice it feels to the touch. Of course, it’s hard to isolate this specific product as I do use other things in my Korean beauty routine. But still, I didn’t have this effect with other serums. This was the first winter ever that I didn’t have dry/red/chapped cheeks that were hot to the touch from wind burn and irritation. So, to me, this is a win. And it’s so versatile and fragrance free.

The serum is available on eBay and Amazon

Purito and Korean store Eopenmarket have generously gifted me this product. As usual, all opinions are my own and honest.
