Purito Centella Green Level Calming Toner Review

Updated: Mar 28, 2021

About me: 28 yo, combination skin with freckles, getting first signs of aging. Occasional breakouts and sometimes redness, flaking, and oily sheen.

This is a new alcohol free toner from Purito (I really enjoy their products, at least the ones I have tried). It's sold on* YesStyle (Use reward code KBHOBBIT for extra savings) and Amazon.

This toner is good for:

  • Sensitive skin

  • Dry and dehydrated skin

  • Skin in need of soothing

  • Those who want to avoid toxic and harmful ingredients

How to use:

  • Apply to clean skin with hands or cotton discs/pads/balls

  • If you have very dry or dehydrated skin, you can apply the toner 2 to 4 times, patting it in to full absorption. You may also saturate thin cotton pads with it and apply to the face as a DIY face mask for an extra hydration boost

I think centella asiatica might be a magical herb (and a legend says that tigers

rolled in it to help their battle wounds heal). Everything that I’ve tried containing centella (including Purito face cream in samples) immediately reduced redness and irritation on my skin. I’m guilty of occasionally extracting blackheads, and centella is my favorite for aftercare.

This toner contains 10% centella asiatica and panthenol. Panthenol attracts moisture. Combined with hyaluronic acid, it soothes and restores damaged skin. A combination of centella asiatica, panthenol, and witch hazel extract strengthen the skin’s barrier.

The treatment doesn’t contain preservatives and harmful chemicals. The manufacturer recommends storing it in the fridge and using it up promptly, like fresh produce. I use mine daily and keep it in the bathroom without any issues. The packaging boasts of EWG Green Level ingredients, referring to the famous EWG Skindeep Database that rates the safety of skincare and beauty ingredients. The rating goes from 1 to 10, the lower the safer, and Purito is proud to saw that all of their ingredients are safe according to the rating.

I find the scent light and herbal, and it dissipates quickly (I mainly pickup the bergamot notes). It’s somewhere between water and light gel in consistency, with a neutral 5.5 pH; absorbs quickly with no stickiness. I wait about 10-20 seconds between layers of my routine to make sure everything is absorbed.

Purito has been printing things inside of their recycled packaging boxes lately. This one contains a comic with different toner uses - from the beginner “apply with hands to the face” to the advanced mixing it with oil in a mist bottle.

I’ve been using the toner twice a day for a couple of weeks now and I am impressed. It’s mild, effective, and would suit any skin type. It hydrates without heaviness and stickiness (which is a huge thing for summer), soothes redness and irritation. It’s easy to apply - absorbs quickly and doesn’t run down to my elbows, and there’s practically no scent. The sizing is generous (200 ml) and will last a while. Because of the neutral aroma and unisex packaging, it’s suitable for men also (my husband’s skin loves going on strike and get random red bumps). As usual, Purito’s newest product has left me impressed. What will they do next?
